Colonial “Aid”
Colonialism does not easily relinquish its ill-bought power and status. With every attempt of the world to prick its non-existent “conscience” comes another writhe or twist of its monstrous reptilian body where it attempts to throw off and deflect any responsibility or accountability, and instead performs some grotesque inversion of what it should be doing. It does not learn.
In response to the critical famine that has been unfolding across the Gaza Strip for months, the colonial entities – which now include the soulless Arab states of Jordan and UAE amongst others, states that have internalized colonial attitudes that they now display towards their supposed brothers in the hopes they can align themselves with power – have found ever more humiliating “concessions” that they can make towards the Palestinians.
The collusion of white colonial powers and their wealthy Arab whipping boys has resulted in “solutions” like airdropping aid rather than actually opening the borders where trucks of food sit rotting. The airdropping of aid, which is not only physically dangerous, resulting in documented injuries and deaths –additionally represents a humiliating spectacle for the delectation of the colonial powers and their racist supporters.
For colonialism and its adherents, have a collective inbuilt ego structure based around superiority, “othering” and the exploitation of others – part of which necessarily involves humiliation. Narcissism never feels the necessary shame to grow and develop – it perpetually casts shame onto the “other” while it seeks ever new heights of power from which to look down upon them.
Stealing with one hand, in typical colonial fashion, whilst ostentatiously dropping “aid” on a starving people is the height of colonial hypocrisy; funnelling in billions worth of arms to unleash savagery of epic proportions on defenceless people and then announcing oneself a beacon of enlightenment and kindness is typical.
The debacle of dropping food packages over starving people that can not only cause fatalities, but result in aggression and conflict between those starving people – is a colonial artform and the latest in a series of spectacles designed to strip away dignity.
Colonial “Doublespeak”
A hallmark of the colonialist mindset is doublespeak, a language that colonizers instantly recognize in one another, and that grants membership to the “in-club”, since it signifies the superior capacity for game playing, the ability to manipulate others for personal gain and the cloaking of intentions to execute sophisticated deceptions; Machiavellianism is the natural outcome of a culture where self-interest and the ruthless pursuit of personal advancement at any costs, has primacy.
As the opposite of more affiliative, collectivistic cultures that focus on the co-existence of the group and collective good, social harmony and strong networks that are altruistic in character, the Western colonial mindset and psyche foregrounds the individual; social networks exist, but they are more ruthless in nature, often networks of power and narcissism.
In contrast to the collectivistic cultures that show warmth, hospitality and a natural instinctive empathy that extends easily over people not personally known to one, the cultural coldness of the European colonizing nations considers its own personal benefits above all.
All of these traits can be seen within the social and political spheres, where selfishness and hypocrisy, linguistic distortions and “superior” posturing that provides a smokescreen for ruthless ambition at the cost of basic humanity, is rife. “Doublespeak” runs concurrent to all these tendencies, facilitating and enabling them.
Some people may regard “doublespeak” as a feature of advanced sophistication in language, an offshoot of irony, where “civilization” requires that we be less “direct” in our communication in order to soften the impact of our words and take a less belligerent approach.
However, there are cultures with highly sophisticated language and poetry, ancient civilizations such as Persian, Arab and Greek, in which there is not the same capacity for the kind of social hypocrisy and “doublespeak” that is such a prevalent feature of colonialist cultures.
What colonial “doublespeak” aims to do is to disguise its aggression whilst executing the worst crimes; it is flagrant deception, and frequently the colonizer is not even aware of it, so ingrained is it into a spilt psyche that is incapable of seeing its own malign intentions.
“Two-faced” is what this is commonly referred to socially, and it is a very ubiquitous feature of some societies and social groups, becoming more prominent the further up the social “ladder” we ascend in terms of wealth and status, whether it is “mean girls” in the school playground or rabid white “Karen” types in the supposedly “adult” social sphere.
Colonial Hypocrisy Across the Political and Social Strata
Starmers latest announcement that the UK will recognize Palestine if “Israel” does not adhere to a ceasefire, is typical of the hypocritical, spineless style of compulsive flip-flopping and U turning that marks him out as a weak and indecisive leader; it is clear that the prospect of mutiny in his cabinet has made him issue this weak statement that simultaneously attempts to pander to the “Israel” lobby – who have responded with their usual “Lawyerly” threats – and yet appease his cabinet.
His use of Palestinian statehood as a bargaining chip is horrifically distasteful but perhaps in line with the fact that the UK has always been instrumental in the playing out of the Palestine situation: this is a Western genocide enacted by the US, UK, France, Germany and the rest of the EU and NATO countries, and an essential part of the ongoing political and military project of installing and legitimizing their military outpost in the Middle East.
Trump’s childish, malign statement that nobody had shown gratitude for the 60 million given to Gaza - the reality is that 30 million was approved by the state department and none of this actually disbursed – is not only typical of the lies constantly thrown out casually in press conferences by his administration, but also contains that same kernel of colonizer mindset – where is your gratitude?
This superior, entitled mindset of brutalizing “lesser” people and then offering them a few crumbs of “help” while expecting them to crawl in grovelling submission, is a mindset that is ingrained at every level of certain societies, and endemic in many of its people.
Whether it is social media clips of illiterate oiks demanding we “speak English in their country”, or ignorant gabbling TV presenters like Carole Malone claiming “not everything about colonisation is wrong”; drunk white women harassing Muslim women and screaming in their faces to “liberate” themselves from the hijab or vitriolic creatures like Hartley-Brewer claiming that starving babies in Gaza are fakes or have congenital diseases – the psyche behind all this garbage is one and the same: colonial superiority based on a history of invasion, and that far from being backed up by the actual qualities it lays claim to, is in fact inferior in all the important ways.
Yemen, the Kryptonite to Colonialism
The antidote to colonial hypocrisy, doublespeak and Lady Muck style pretensions to superiority, is the straightforward honesty of people who have a centuries rich culture that is tied to their own land and has developed organically.
There is a reason why it is almost exclusively only the Yemeni’s, who have consistently stood up for Palestine, and have put themselves on the line in doing so. This type of nobility is the diametric opposite to the economically motivated affiliations and networks of the West, based upon mutual profiteering and individual advancement – the art of the deal as it were.
We live in a corrupt world, where we are ruled by networks of narcissism and what are little more than sophisticated gangsters, ruthlessly working together to sustain their own exploitative system and ensure its domination – the US and Europe, the classic white, imperialist nations, working in alignment and broad agreement in their conquest and domination of the rest of the world.
Within this corrupt and deeply diseased system, although it is the Palestinians who are currently bearing the brunt of this warped world order that is witnessing the complete breakdown of any systems of justice and the upholding of international law, it is the Yemeni’s who stand out as the beacon not of Western notions of “civilization” – but of true nobility.
This nobility of speaking in direct terms and exhibiting true self-sacrifice for no personal gain, the heroism of standing up for the oppressed, is the perennial stuff of the literary classics and movies of the West - but is a language that exists largely outside of the West; and it is the essence of true civilization.
Free Palestine From the River to the Sea, and Fuck Western Colonialism
Wonderfully put, Sobia, every word about truth. Totally agree that the only true helpers are the Yemenis for no personal gain.
