Kneecap Speaks Truth to Power
Kneecap have come under considerable fire after their bold and daring performance at Coachella on the 18thApril, where they projected onto large screens, references to “Israel’s” genocide, messages like “Free Palestine” – and the words that cross many of our minds when we awake to the latest atrocity committed by “Israel” against Palestinian civilians – “Fuck Israel”.
In typical aggressive self-victimizer mode and seething with self-righteous rage about somebody daring to showcase dissent at the brutal genocide of Gaza’s civilian population, various Jewish groups have gone straight for the jugular, and enacted their usual “grown up” version of running crying to the teacher.
They have attacked the festivals promoter Goldenvoice for booking the band and gone the route of using dubious Zionist-propelled legal loopholes to justify their complaint about being made to feel upset for supporting child killing.
This is all with the aid of the obsequious Western media publishing statements such as: “the band, which has been known to espouse the ideology of terror groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah…”
We all know that this legislation designating Hamas and Hezbollah as proscribed terror groups was pushed through in 2001 and 2019 respectively, to smooth the path for the Western imperial powers to enact their military campaigns in the Middle East with no pushback, and with the legal power to silence dissenting voices.
(Sidenote: Kneecap also made a neat, one-word summary of President Trump, that cut through all the political analyses and crystallized his character with the kind of perfection that dispenses with unnecessary verbiage).
Another Peaceful “Pro-Jewish” Organization
The Creative Community for Peace – yet another Jewish organization whose belligerent motivations are at stark cross-purposes with their stated name which generally include words like “peace” and “defence” – whined that: “Festivals such as Coachella are meant to bring people together to celebrate music and life, instead they allowed the festival to devolve into a forum of hate…”
The twisting of words that these self-victimizing groups commonly use in order to suppress justified anger at “Israel’s” genocidal actions are by now well-known and would not be complete without the antisemitic cherry on the cake: “At a time of record levels of antisemitism, it is outrageous that AEG and Goldenvoice allowed this to happen.”
Outrageous. Not at the killing, bombing and starvation of men, women, children. But at the people showcasing it, protesting it.
The BBC’s article on Kneecap carried a warning that it contained language “that some readers may find offensive” in the same manner as so many livestreamed images coming out of Gaza in the past 18 months have carried warnings that the images might be disturbing.
I assume that the people who find “Fuck Israel” disturbing (or maybe the BBC article was referring to the words “Free Palestine”) are the same people that find the latter images acceptable.
Zionist “Fragility”
“Though white fragility is triggered by discomfort and anxiety, it is born of superiority and entitlement. White fragility is not weakness per se. In fact, it is a powerful means of white racial control and the protection of white advantage” - Robin DiAngelo, White Fragility
DiAngelo’s by now widely used phrase describes well, the uneasy coexistence in people displaying racist attitudes, of superior entitlement along with “sensitivity” about acknowledging other people’s feelings at their hands.
If it is possible to simultaneously exhibit self-victimization along with extreme aggression, this is demonstrated par excellence in Zionists everywhere, who exhibit entrenched attitudes that show just this, a nauseating blend of victim-playing and violence towards others. They can’t even handle free speech, everything so upsets their little rotting black hearts.
The same self-victimization is seen in every malignant narcissist as well as many psychopaths and serial killers.
Zionists have perfected this aggressor-victim dynamic through their utilization of the Holocaust card, the perpetual “excuse that keeps on giving”. Despite the utterly horrific and brutal genocidal military campaign of mass extermination through multiple means, being inflicted on the innocent civilian population of Gaza, Zionists everywhere continue to bleat about October 7th, the Jewish Holocaust and Hamas.
I’ve detailed elsewhere about how most of what “happened” on October 7th has been debunked, but I could say this till I’m blue in the face and lay out the evidence piece by piece – it will be ignored, because the Zionists always needed an excuse.
Words of Gratitude to Human Beings with Hearts
I would like to end with a heartfelt thank you to Kneecap, for putting their professional status, earnings and success on the line by speaking truth to power. They, and all of those people who have taken such a hit – people from the Microsoft employees Ibtihal Aboussad and Vaniya Aggraval to celebrities Billie Eilish, Melissa Barrera, and news anchors like Mehdi Hassan, students like Mahmoud Khalil – too many people to name here, and many, many individuals I know personally and professionally who have said that silence is not an option and that they will live with their principles intact - have my deep respect.
May we all continue to speak truth to power.
Brilliant article Sobia! I hope you keep writing!
“Britain hates this” Not so sure about that - I think if you look closer you’ll find their fan base is predominantly made up off the offspring of the neoliberal classes, their faux radicalism, riding the “anti-Zionist” train, typically from their safe European home is extremely popular with the “degree class” with questionable taste in “Irish rap music”.
I read they were more than happy to take benefit money from the UK’s neoliberal government (I suppose it gives the whole “working class” shtick a legit backstory) these three young radicals should have been out robbing banks, like the cosplaying anarchists they purport to be - robbing from the rich - giving to the poor etc.
I see a bright future for them - albeit momentarily bright - 5 minutes of fame, in a years time (realistically 6 months) their download will be found on centrist dads Spotify playlists. Politically they’ll have changed sweet fuck all - in Ireland or in Palestine.
Politics is where music and art go to die - if they’re the genuine article (I personally think their the wet dream of some coked up record exec in london) create something beautiful - not some anachronistic throwback to an era that you never experienced first hand. Chanting about Margaret Thatcher in 2025 to crowd of middleclass non binary students is completely irrelevant (both to them and their audience) - it doesn’t reflect the current UK political climate.
where are the tracks directed at Starmer and co?
I expect the bbc will be all over them ( they already are which is never a good sign) for “glasto” the spiritual home of professional managerial class culture.
