Well spoken. I have always thought that women in the countries of West Asia, as normal human beings, are perfectly capable of defining their rights and the ways to fight for them. They don’t need ‘rescuing’ by arrogant people who know nothing about their history or culture.

Thank you Malcolm! The people of a culture know what is best for them, and absolutely don't need "intervention" of any kind.

Western feminism is, imo, deeply embedded in capitalism. It is exclusive by nature because White women have placed themselves at the top of an imagined hierarchy. Thank you again for writing this piece, Sobia.

Thank you Mo. Yes, this is all about hierarchies and power. When I see the way some of these women behave towards women of the global south, I am appalled - in upholding those power structures they are more harmful to us women than if there was no "feminism" at all.

I hear you! They couldn’t care less about the truly oppressed of the global south.

Also, I have an adult trans daughter and she and her trans sisters are excluded and isolated. It has become worse since JK Rowling started meddling in politics with her wealth and her big mouth and her monumental ego. TERFS are treacherous and toxic.

Yep - white feminism is a trendy "in-club". Sorry to hear about your trans daughters being excluded. And agree, JK is a massive traitor - yapping about trans women and nothing about Palestine. Cannot stand her.

We loathe her in this house. The damage she’s already done is profound.
