Unfortunately I do not share your hopes. I pray I am wrong but I suspect he is a controlled player. No one gets anywhere in US politics otherwise. The very fact that the Palestinian Authorities have stood silent about the Zionists crimes in the West Bank and ongoing genocide proves that being Muslim and making the right noises isn't going to stop the colonizers. The ruling elites in Jordan, the Gulf states and KSA need to be overthrown and the colony destroyed for real peace in ME.
However, being Muslim and gaining such a position despite his vocal support for Palestine, seems to me quite unprecedented and a step in the right direction. Lets see.
Yeah that’s the real point. That he can even talk that way and take over Jew central is a triumph in and of itself regardless of future performance or whether he is controlled opposition.
Exactly. The Zio lobby and its tentacles over the world, together with this new racist virulent so-called Judaeo-Christian movement makes his victory all the more encouraging.
Given earlier mayors I wondered what the fuss was about. Rudi let the 9/11 crime scene be ruined. Bloomberg banned Geiger counters. Cuomo presided over the mass deaths associated with very stupid Covid policies.
They are all going to be losers so why the panic with this fellow?
When I was younger I leaned towards conservatives for fiscal rectitude. But the modern conservative couldn’t balance a check book. They spray red ink everywhere. So what are they good for? Can they sing? Can they dance? If they are not committed to surplus budgets they are not needed.
Seems to be a panic about free busses. The logistics of a city make this a good idea since the more people who take the bus the less congestion. Seems to me if you want to help low paid workers this is a fine way to do it.
Others say we ought not have so many foreigners around but that’s a seperate issue. Repatriation has to be gentle and persistent but whoever is here should be represented.
The panic is because of his radical departure from the establishment stance of sleazy lies and supporting "Israel" over implementing policies that are for the actual citizens of the US.
See these fools lacking all self-respect and concern for their constituents were competing against each other as to who could lick the boots of little Mordor with more devotion. In my mind the competition disqualified itself.
I think we have to move to free busses in the big city. At least for those who are willing to either get up earlier or sleep in later. Maybe you still need price rationing at peak hour. But it just makes sense to use all mechanisms of this sort to help the working poor, the job seekers……. And people who really need to use their car. Because then there will be more room on the roads. So it can be good for everyone.
This principle is kind of ignored in economics. I think if you glut the place with 5-storey luxury apartments near to a rail line it leaves more room for small farms. People don’t think enough in this way.
Especially here in the West during the COVID-19 pandemic’s onset, there were seniors in care homes who were essentially neglected to death by overwhelmed and fearful staff. Not even residents’ loved-ones were permitted to care for them due to callous, bureaucratic-like lockdown measure rules.
A most morbid Canadian example of the consequences of private-sector health-services neglect was the CHSLD Résidence Herron long-term care home in Quebec, where 47 residents perished and many others needlessly greatly suffered during the initial ordealic months of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While care-home-owner greed resulting in resident neglect existed well before the pandemic and in many other care homes, the desertion at Herron during the initial COVID lockdown had become so dire that the Canadian Armed Forces got involved.
... Not surprisingly, what I mostly admire about some Asian cultures is their general belief in and practice of not placing their aged family members in seniors care homes. As a result, their family caregivers did/do not have to worry over those loved-ones being left vulnerable by cost-cutting measures taken by some care-home business owners to maximize profits.
A few social/labor uprisings or revolutions notwithstanding, the superfluously rich and powerful have always had the police and military ready to foremost protect their big-money/-power interests, even over the basic needs of the masses.
I, for one, find it quite politically/ideologically refreshing that mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, unlike his competition, seems to genuinely appreciate this. … Mind you, he'll nonetheless experience great resistance from a formidable American system based basically on insatiable superfluous-profit/-income greed!
Even today, the police and military can, and I believe they probably would, claim (using euphemistic or political terminology, of course) that they had to bust heads to maintain law and order as a priority during major demonstrations, especially those against economic injustices. Indirectly supported by complacent or compliant corporate news-media, the absurdly unjust inequities/inequalities can persist.
I can imagine there were/are lessons learned from successful social/labor uprisings — a figurative How to Hinder Progressive Revolutions 101, maybe? — with the clarity of hindsight by big power/money interests in order to avoid any repeat of such great wealth/power losses.
We in the Far West live in a virtual corpocracy, regardless of who’s elected prime minister or president. Leaders are elected via the first-past-the-post ballot system, which enables an insidiously covert rule by way of potently manipulative/persuasive corporate and big-monied lobbyists.
Apparently, the superfluous-wealth desires of the few, and especially the one, increasingly outweigh the life-necessity needs of the many. The more they make, all the more they want — nay, need! — to make next time. It’s never enough.

Just hope his security-team is top-notch and 💯% loyal.
He will badly need it 24/7/365 from the very minute the final election-results are made official ...
Yes - I worry about false flags, all the nefarious powers stacked against him and the psychopathic bullies who will have it in for him.
Great comprehensive essay!
Thank you Michael!
